Games! Do I really need to say more? We have many types of games. Check out some of the great things you can do at the library. If you have any game suggestions, no matter the format, please let us know. 

Board Games

Looking to hang out and play some board games with friends?  Grab a game from The Cave and pull up to a table. Find popular titles including:

    Grab your friends and come by the library for board games, video games, and snacks at the Ottawa Library. Ages 12 -18 can bring their own game or enjoy one of the library's at this fun come-and-go event. During the summer, this program will be every Tuesday evening (except for July 4th).

Chess Club & Lessons

Looking to improve your memory and concentration? Wanting to practice logical thinking skills? Make the smart move and join us for a few games of Chess. Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm at Ottawa Library.

Not sure where to begin with chess? Schedule a tutorial appointment at our Reference Desk. Appointments available Monday through Thursday, 9am through 5pm, and Saturdays 9am through noon.

Scrabble Club

Calling all Scrabble players! Join us on Wednesdays for a game of Scrabble. Meet new opponents or bring a friend.

Video Games

Yes. We have video games, too. Teens are welcome to use the X-Box One located in the cave. Head to the Children's Desk with your library card to request the X-Box controller and TV remote. Looking for something to play at home? We have Xbox, PlayStation, and Wii games available for check out. 

 

  • You must be be between ages of 12 - 18 years old.

  • You must have a healthy library account with card present.

  • Two people can play, but the person who checked it out is financially responsible for all of the items. 

  • Checks out and back in from the Children's Desk.

  • Make sure discs are in their cases and everything is in the box when you return it. 

  • You can check out or bring your own games, but they must be rated Teen or Everyone.

  • Keep the game and your volume at an acceptable level for the library.
