Education is important and we love helping out schools, organizations, and homeschoolers.
Educator / Teacher / Facilitator Cards
Educator Cards are great for individuals who supply materials for use with students or for classroom purposes. Educator card-holders benefit from longer checkout times and also take advantage of our recent decision to go fine free. Speak with staff at our circulation desk to discuss transferring your library to an educator card.
Book Club Sets
Our Book Club Sets are great if you need a classroom set for a book discussion. Each bag has roughly 10-20 copies of each book.
Six Skills by Six Years (6x6 Kits)
Six Skills by Six Years kits contain books and resources for implementing the 6 x 6 ready-to-read program which emphasizes early literacy skills. Funding was provided by the Kansas State Library and the kits are designed for pre-school and daycare use with children, ages birth to 6.
Field Trips
Introduce your students to the library with a guided tour by one of our Youth Services Librarians.
Ottawa Library Abroad
Our Youth Services Librarians love to get out in the community and visit students. Let us bring storytime to you, showcase some of our services, or talk about some great reads. During the month of November, we enjoy participating in Kansas Reads to Preschoolers by visiting preschools throughout Franklin County. Want to set up a field trip or have our librarians visit your class? Reach out to our Youth Services Manager, Cyndi.
Requesting Materials
Discussing a specific theme or topic that you could use resource materials for? We are here to help. Reach out with some details on what you are looking for and we will gather the materials (books, videos, etc) and have them ready for pick up. Please allow at least a couple of days. Some materials may need a week or two to be brought in from partnering libraries.Email requests to YouthServices@OttawaLibrary.org. Please include your name, organization, library card number, date materials are needed, information on topic, and the preferred method of contact.
Homeschool groups welcome!
Let us say this loud and clear. Home school groups are always welcome to utilize library spaces and resources.
