Dive into our collection of video games available for checkout, or join us in the library for a friendly competition with our wide selection of computer games, board games, puzzles, and card games. It's more than just entertainment; it's a chance to connect, learn, and challenge yourself. So, grab a controller, shuffle the deck, or roll the dice, and let the games begin!
Board Games
We have several collections of board games throughout the library. Several games are available in the Children's Department along the East wall. Feel free to grab one of these can play with your child while you are at the library, including titles like GuessWho, Phase 10, Sorry. Advanced games like Settlers of Catan, Trolley Problem, and SuperFight! are located in The Cave, our YA / Teen area. More traditional games, like chess and Scrabble can be found in the Reference Department.
Chess Club
Gaming club for older children, teens, and adults
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6 PM
Harness the cognitive benefits of chess, the enduring game of kings, by joining our bi-weekly Chess Club. Recognized for its ability to enhance brain plasticity and foster critical thinking skills, chess provides a superb intellectual exercise. We invite players with existing chess experience to participate in friendly games and practice matches every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:00 PM here at the library. Come refine your strategy, challenge your mind, and connect with fellow enthusiasts in a welcoming atmosphere.
Computers
Computer games can be a great way to test your skills and improve familiarity with PCs. Three computers located in the Children's Department are preloaded with a curated list of kid-safe videos and games through a software suite called Magic Desktop.
Minecraft
Throughout the year, we host Minecraft events in our activity room. Be sure to keep an eye on the calendar. They are popular and registration fills up quickly.
Nintendo Switch
A Nintedo Switch is located in The Cave for use by teens (ages 12-18). There is a small collection of preloaded games available. The controllers can be checked out from the Youth Services Desk.
Roblox
In accordance with our strict commitment to the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), we have blocked access to the platform Roblox on all organizational devices and networks.
This decision was made following widespread safety reports and active litigation detailing the prevalence of online grooming, predatory behavior, and unsafe social interactions targeting children on the platform. We remain dedicated to providing a safe, secure environment for our minors.
Scrabble Club
Gaming club for adults
Mondays at 6 PM
Challenge your vocabulary and strategic thinking by joining our weekly Scrabble Club. This engaging, drop-in activity offers a relaxed yet stimulating environment for word enthusiasts of all skill levels to connect and compete. We meet every Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Reference Meeting Room. Come exercise your brain, enjoy friendly competition, and expand your lexicon with fellow word game aficionados.
Video Games
Yes, it is true. We have video games, too. These are located North of TV & Movies by the Cave. Titles are currently limited to PS3, PS4, XBox 360, XBox One, and Wii.
