In addition to being the home to our Young Adult collection, The Cave is an area carved out for teens (12-18) to gather, play board games, utilize computer access, play video games, or just hang with friends.

Young Adult Collection

Unlike other collections in the library, the Young Adult collection is arranged by genre (fantasy, general fiction, thriller, humor, romance, graphic novels, science fiction, new, and non-fiction). This collection is open to anyone in the library. If you need assistance finding a specific author or novel, try searching NextKansas.org online or at one of our search catalog kiosks.

To provide a place for our teens to feel relaxed, safe, and welcome, we ask that only teens 12-18 utilize the area for anything other than browsing and retrieving reading materials.

Xbox One

Current Title Available

One of The Cave's most popular features among teens is the Xbox One. Controllers and select games can be checked out at the desk in the Children's area. The Xbox is limited to patrons between 12-18 years of age with a library card in good standing. The controllers, games, and any other accompanying materials are not to leave the library. Teens are welcome to bring their own controllers and games, but games with a rating above T-Teen will not play on the system.

Computers

There are three public-use computers in The Cave just for teens to use to chat with friends, do homework, surf the web, or just play games.
