Storytime and Play

Nurture your child’s love of books and the library while having a great time! The storytime is designed to engage children through movement, music, stories, and play. Storytime will be approximately 30 minutes and involve stories, songs, large and small movement activities, and lots of interaction. Each storytime will be followed by open playtime. During this time, the children learn to play and share; families can explore together; it gives adults and children a time to socialize.

Each storytime will have different books and activities.

These programs are geared toward the ages listed. Attend the storytime that fits your child(ren) and your schedule. No registration is required for any of our weekly storytimes.

6 by 6 – Ready to Read

All of our storytime groups touch on the six early literacy skills that children need to acquire by the time they are six years old and ready to learn to read.

The Six Skills:
  • Have fun with books
  • Notice print all around you
  • Talk, talk, talk
  • Look for letters everywhere
  • Tell stories about everything
  • Take time to rhyme

Parents/caregivers are required to attend storytime with children. We encourage you to actively participate with your children in storytime activities to enhance their learning experience!
