The Kansas Historical Society is partnering with Ancestry.com to make records with genealogical information available via the Internet. Ancestry.com digitized a variety of paper and microfilm records from the State Archives. Access to these records is free to Kansans who verify their residence via driver’s license information @http://www.kshs.org/ancestry

Un-Valentines Day Party

Sick of fuzzy pink hearts and sappy cards? Then throw on your favorite Black and Red and join us for an Un-Valentines Day party!

We will make black duct tape roses, Break-Up VooDoo Dolls, and play some Un-Valentine games.

Of course, there will still be chocolate, a tradition we will never give up.

Program for ages 12-18 Regis. required, Party limited to first 15 people that RSVP

The Friends of the Library will be open this Saturday at 209 E 2nd Street. They have regular sales the first Saturday of each month.

They are also open Mondays from 1-2:30pm.

Dream Rocket Art Show

Dream Rocket Art Show Feb 2-29 on exhibit at Ottawa Library.

See pieces of art that will be wrapped within 32,000 sq. ft. around the Saturn V Moon Rocket at U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. This rocket is 365 ft. tall, it’s taller than the statue of Liberty!

Dare to Dream challenges the artists to expand beyond the present state of the world and imagine the future and their contribution to that future. Artists of all ages have participated in this monumental wrap art, the pieces will travel in 44 shows before being wrapped around the rocket in May 2014.

The Ottawa Library hours are listed in the new telephone books incorrectly.

Our correct hours are:

Mon-Thurs 9 am-8 pm
Fri 9 am-5 pm & Sat 9 am-1 pm

Unique Service

Returned materials are critical for providing maximum resources for all library users. The Ottawa Library will begin using the Unique Management bill collection service for overdue accounts beginning in January 2012. Unique specializes in partnering with libraries with their Gentle Nudge process.
